How to send gifts on animal crossing: city folk?

I don’t know how to send gifts. Can you just give a gift to someone? How do you give a gift in a letter? I’m so confused!!

i think you have to nuy paper from nooks cranny and send it that way
First you need paper to write a letter., buy it at nook’s or check lost and found at the gate.
Click on the paper in your pocket inventory, and it will give you the option to write a letter.
Then go to your pockets and click on the little pink envelope in the top right corner, that brings down the mail you have and mail you have written.
Drag the gift from your pockets inventory up to the blue envelope with the letter you’ve written.
Present will show up and then you just have to go to the Town hall, stand on the right side and mail the letter.
